The baptism of Jesus; the ministry begins

In the fifteenth year of Tiberius, John baptized Jesus in the Jordan; the Spirit descended as a dove and the Father spoke, You are my beloved Son (Luke 3:1, 21-22). Jesus was about thirty (Luke 3:23).

1In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, while Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, 2during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness. 3He went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins,
