The Davidic covenant
Through Nathan the LORD promised David a house, a kingdom, and a throne established forever (2 Samuel 7:12-16), the covenant behind the royal line traced to Christ (Matthew 1:1). Scripture places it after the ark's arrival, without a year.

A Father with sons and daughters
Paul joins God's words about a father and son with Isaiah's words about sons and daughters. He uses them to describe God's family.
2 Corinthians 6:18
And: “I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
Second Samuel 7:14 says, "I will be his Father, and he will be My son." Isaiah 43:6 speaks of God's sons and daughters. Second Corinthians 6:18 brings both parts together in God's promise to be a Father to His sons and daughters.
Explicit fulfillment
The Son and David's promised heir
Paul says that God fulfilled His promise to the fathers by raising Jesus and quotes Psalm 2's declaration of the Son; Hebrews places that declaration beside God's covenant words about David's heir.
Acts 13:32–33
And now we proclaim to you the good news: What God promised our fathers He has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm: ‘You are My Son; today I have become Your Father.’
Hebrews 1:5
For to which of the angels did God ever say: “You are My Son; today I have become Your Father”? Or again: “I will be His Father, and He will be My Son”?
Psalm 2:7 says, "You are My Son"; 2 Samuel 7:14 says of David's promised heir, "I will be his Father, and he will be My son"; Acts 13:32-33 names the promise fulfilled in Jesus' resurrection, and Hebrews 1:5 quotes both earlier statements in succession.
