Jesus explains Elijah's coming
As they came down the mountain, Jesus told the disciples not to report the vision until He had risen. Asked why Elijah must come first, He explained that Elijah had already come and had suffered, and the disciples understood that He spoke of John the Baptist (Matthew 17:9-13).
