At Passover Jesus drove the sellers and money changers from the temple courts, saying they must not make His Father's house a house of trade. When asked for a sign, He spoke of raising the temple of His body in three days (John 2:13-22).
13When the Jewish Passover was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14In the temple courts He found men selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and money changers seated at their tables. 15So He made a whip out of cords and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle. He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.
When Jesus cleared the temple courts, His disciples remembered David's words in Psalm 69 about being consumed by zeal for God's house.
because zeal for Your house has consumed me, and the insults of those who insult You have fallen on me.
Psalm 69:9 says that zeal for God's house consumed David; John 2:17 quotes the line after Jesus drove the sellers and money changers from the temple courts.
