The Shepherd struck and the sheep scattered

Jesus quoted Zechariah in telling the disciples that they would fall away that night; when He was arrested, all the disciples deserted Him and fled.

Zechariah 13:7

Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, against the man who is My Companion, declares the LORD of Hosts. Strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn My hand against the little ones.

Zechariah 13:7 says to strike the Shepherd and the sheep will be scattered; Jesus quotes those words in Matthew 26:31, and Matthew 26:56 records the disciples fleeing as the writings of the prophets were fulfilled.
