Jeremiah rescued from the cistern

During Jerusalem's final crisis Jeremiah was beaten, imprisoned, and lowered into a muddy cistern for warning that the city would fall. Ebed-melech appealed to Zedekiah and carefully lifted the prophet out with ropes and worn cloths (Jeremiah 37:11-38:13).
