Lamentations grieved over Jerusalem sitting deserted, her temple destroyed, and her people scattered. At the center of the sorrow stood hope in the LORD's steadfast love and fresh mercies, followed by a plea that He restore His people (Lamentations 1:1; 3:21-26; 5:19-22).
