Nimrod's kingdom in Shinar

Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD, made the beginning of his kingdom Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh in the land of Shinar, and from that land went out to build Nineveh (Genesis 10:8-12). Scripture sets his kingdom at the door of the Babel account.

undated in Scripture

Scripture gives no year; his kingdom's beginning frames the Babel narrative

📖 Genesis 10:8–10

8Cush was the father of Nimrod, who began to be a mighty one on the earth. 9He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; so it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD.” 10His kingdom began in Babylon, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
