A plot against Paul; transfer to Caesarea

More than forty men bound themselves by oath to kill Paul, but Paul’s nephew learned of the plot and warned the Roman commander. Under heavy guard Paul was taken by night from Jerusalem to Caesarea, where Governor Felix ordered him held until his accusers arrived (Acts 23:12-35).

12When daylight came, the Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul. 13More than forty of them were involved in this plot. 14They went to the chief priests and elders and said, “We have bound ourselves with a solemn oath not to eat anything until we have killed Paul.
