The LORD divided the sea, Israel crossed on dry ground, and the waters returned over Pharaoh's army. Israel saw the LORD's great power, feared Him, and believed in Him and in His servant Moses (Exodus 14:1-31), days after the Exodus in 1491 BC.

You are to encamp by the sea, directly opposite Baal-zephon. 3For Pharaoh will say of the Israelites, ‘They are wandering the land in confusion; the wilderness has boxed them in.’
Paul points back to Israel under the cloud and passing through the sea. He says they were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.
1 Corinthians 10:1–2
I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud, and that they all passed through the sea. They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.
Exodus 14 records the cloud between Israel and Egypt and Israel's passage through the sea on dry ground. First Corinthians 10:1-2 names both parts of the account and describes them as baptism into Moses.
