Zechariah turns the fasts toward joy
When a delegation asked whether the old fasts should continue, God exposed the self-interest behind their observance and called the people to justice, mercy, and truth. He promised to restore Jerusalem so that the former fasts would become joyful feasts and nations would seek the LORD there (Zechariah 7:1-8:23).
